Nesuto X 52 Sandwich Shack @ Tras Street

I have decided to revive my blog! Finally, I found the time to edit some photos and truthfully, it is also because I have something worth to blog about!

Recently, I made a trip to Nesuto, which is located at 53 Tras Street, just a short walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station. It is not my first time there, but the desserts and murals, as usual, blew me away. A little birdie told me that the paintings on the wall cost the owners five figures!

So, back to the topic. The reason I visited Nesuto is that they now have a new concept called 52 Sandwich Shack, which is slated to open soon at Raffles City. Some of the signature items from the shack can now be found at Nesuto so that you can have your savoury and sweet all in one place!

We started with the Baby Spinach ($7.90), which consisted of picked mushroom and ginger and shallot dressing. The housemade dressing is reminiscent of our local favourite Chicken Rice. The salad is a delicious dish, and I swear, you will polish this off!

Next, our only open-faced sandwich of the day, Salmon Avocado ($22, with a salad on the side). The salmon is home-cured because Chef Daniel found most cured salmon in the market to be too salty. Hence he was determined to provide a better alternative. The fish is served on top of cream cheese and sourdough.

The first of our grilled cheese sandwiches (the signature dish of 52 Sandwich Shack) is the Yakiniku Pulled Pork ($8.90). I loved this dish, and I can safely say that this is my favourite! The pork collar is flavourful, and it was perfect with the brioche (my favourite type of bread).

We had a palate cleanser in the form of the Tomato Ceviche ($2.90), made with Roma Tomatoes, which is sweet and fruity. The sauce was quite oriental which Wafu dressing, sesame seed and coriander.

Following that, we had the Trio Cheese Sandwich ($6.90), which is the original sandwich and the base of all the other grilled cheese sandwiches.

Have you wondered why the place is called 52 Sandwich Shack? It is because the Chef Daniel took 52 tries to get the perfect combination of cheddar, mozzarella, and fontina. Also, he had to ensure that the combination went well with the meat that they serve and is not too intense for people who do not like cheese.

The last grilled cheese sandwich we had was the Gyu & Onsen Egg ($11.90). Chef Daniel specially chose Wagyu beef shabu shabu for this, and he paired it with balsamic onions so that it will not be too heavy. If you have this dish, do not forget to dunk your sandwich in the onsen egg!
